Everything in moderation

I spent my childhood and young adult years trying to please everyone. I craved the approval of others. It wasn’t until I was a senior in college that I made a decision that was based solely on my own beliefs about what was right. It wasn’t a popular decision, and many people didn’t understand it, but I went ahead anyway. Since then, I’ve made a number of decisions based on my own convictions, and somehow those convictions continued to be controversial with acquaintances and with those closest to me. Of course, this applies to the adoption as well. Everything turned out ok, but it wasn’t easy for anyone.

When I think about making decisions now, I struggle to find a balance between following my conscience and being considerate of others. For the past few years, I’ve really tried to focus on finding moderation in everything. I truly believe that the best course of action lies between two extremes. So what is the wisest way to make decisions? Does anyone have any advice?
